Monserrat (a phono-archaeology)
Monserrat (a phono-archaeology) is a project developed between 2017-2020 that explores the recent sonic history of a Caribbean Island devastated by a volcanic eruption in 1995.
Monserrat (a phono-archaeology)-Fieldnotes is an extensive photographic record taken on site, capturing the takeover of derelict buildings by ash, the lingering traces of human activity within the exclusion zone, and the spaces where sound once emerged—along with the many buried objects that continue to hold it.
